SalsaKat: Dance Instructor Dancer Salsera

It's my delight to share the joy of dance with you!

I believe dancing is an innate human expression: creative movement makes us happier, healthier, more alive — which creates a more joyful, balanced & uplifting world for all.

I've been teaching Latin, Wedding, Ballroom & club dancing since 2008. I began at Cheryl Burke Studio (of Dancing with the Stars), and graduated from the Ballroom Dance Teachers College, San Francisco (whose founder, Diane Jarmolow, I still work for, behind-the-scenes).

I performed with 20-time World Salsa champion Liz Lira, and was a company member with RicaSalsa San Francisco (directed by Ricardo Tellez and Tianne Frias), competing and winning the prestigious World Latin Dance Cup Team Championship, as well as the San Francisco International Salsa Congress Team Championship.

I’ve studied and performed many dance styles (Salsa, Swing, Ballroom, Brazilian Samba, Jazz, Bellydance, Burlesque, Gogo), at hundreds of events including Margaret Cho's "Sensuous Woman", the DeYoung Museum of Art, the Great American Music Hall, San Francisco Pride, and for LinkedIn, Docusign, Steve Wozniak, and was a resident dancer at Temple and Ruby Skye San Francisco nightclubs.

Growing up I danced ballet, tap and jazz, and had a particular affinity for rhythm as a teen percussionist. I fell in love with partner dancing in college, competing as an amateur in Ballroom & Latin. I later discovered club Latin & Salsa dance, which became my favorite style: for the improvisation, the percussion-heavy, multi-instrumented music; the body isolations and ultra-feminine styling. The cultural richness, and being a living, thriving global art form.

A healer at heart, I also have professional experience in bodywork (CMT) and energy healing. I also practice yoga, qigong and meditation. I received my BFA at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
